The Capital Xelles Midget II team participated in a quad meet hosted by the Upper Canada Ice on Sunday, January 22nd in Ingleside, Ontario. After a disappointing over-time loss to the host team in the opener , the girls responded with two very impressive wins in the second and third games, beating both Hawkesbury and Cornwall by sizeable margins. The two wins came as a result of strong shooting, fundamental defence as well as solid rebounding contributions from all players. The team will look to build on these accomplishments as the season progresses and the girls continue to improve. Also, a special thanks to all the parents who made the early morning trip to Ingleside your commitment and support are much appreciated!

The Bantam A (Minor Team) capture Gold in the Hull Tournament this past weekend. They went undefeated in the round robin and beat their opponents quiet handily in the finals. Congrats to all the girls. They are all new to competitive basketball and have come a long way in a short time. undefinedalt

About the Capital Xelles PDF Print E-mail

The Capital Xelles Basketball Club is one of Eastern Ontario’s best basketball clubs dedicated to developing girls between the ages of 10 to 18 to be better players and better individuals.

Our success has proven that when you focus on the individual player’s abilities and development, the team as a whole succeeds.

While many other clubs develop systems, our unique approach of developing the individual player has been successful on and off the court.  Not only do our girls become the best basketball players they can be, they also develop their skills of teamwork, cooperation and sportsmanship.

Our players understand that a successful team requires a great deal of time and dedication and reinforce that basketball is not something separate from their school experience - that discipline must be exemplified both on and off the court.  They must apply their dedication to school as they are "student athletes" - students first, athletes second.

In teaching these lessons, we give our players a taste of several skills essential to a successful life after graduating high school.

Our core value of working together, supporting each other and placing the welfare of the group ahead of self-interest is one that every player adopts early on in this program.

Our coaching staff has strong technical backgrounds with years of experience as a player and/or a coach.  They not only bring a love of the game but the skills needed to develop each player on their team.  The coaches subscribe to the Long Term Athlete Development Model as developed by Basketball Canada and their experience in coaching youth has contributed to the Xelles overall success.

Since our unique approach is to develop the individual player, girls without experience are encouraged to try out.  Although players are encouraged to participate in other interests, Xelles players must commit to attending all practices, games and tournament play.

The Capital Xelles Basketball Club is unique to Eastern Ontario.  Our success is a result of our dedication to developing the player first.  Our teams succeed because our players do.
